Information & Education

Text Box: The NRD is committed to informing and educating others on the natural resources of our state. To attain this goal, the NRD participates in and/or sponsors several ongoing programs:
Work with area teachers and schools to provide tree planting and conservation activities for students.
College scholarship of $300 offered to a graduating senior living within the district, who will be majoring in a natural resources related field.
Nebraska Range Youth Camp: scholarships offered to local area high school students.
NRD newsletter is printed on a quarterly basis with a mailing list of over 1,000.
MNNRD Farm & Ranch Conservation Award recognizes an outstanding cooperator from the district each year.
MNNRD Grassland and Tree Planter Award recognizes an outstanding cooperator on alternating years.
Nature Festivals: The NRD sponsors the Groundwater Festival in Grand Island, and conducts water & conservation fairs on a local basis (Nature Rama).
The MNNRD has two real time weather stations. One located south of Merritt Reservoir and the other located north of Sparks.
Ranch Expo: The MNNRD along with the Upper Elkhorn NRD staff a promotional tent.
Will make presentations on various issues to groups when requested.
