NeRAIN Program

FREE High Quality Rain Gauges Available Through Your MNNRD Office

 

The Middle Niobrara NRD is looking for volunteer backyard weather watchers. Several NRDs across Nebraska are already part of the NeRAIN program, which stands for Nebraska Rainfall Assessment and Information Network, and the Middle Niobrara NRD is becoming a part of the network. Volunteers will spend a few minutes each morning recording precipitation measurements using gauges provided by the NRD. Ideally one volunteer from each township throughout the district will be identified. In addition to rain gauges, volunteers will receive training on how to measure and report the precipitation. The data is then made available on the NeRAIN website and used by scientists and other officials to learn more about storms and precipitation patterns across the region.
