NEBRASKA SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAM (NSWCP) Established in 1977, NSWCP is administered at the state level by the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources and is coordinated by the state's 23 Natural Resources Districts. Technical assistance is provided by the Natural Resources Conservation Service. NSWCP will provide 50% cost share of the actual or county average of all practices. Assistance is available for: constructing terrace systems, terrace underground outlets, water impoundment dams, grade stabilization structures, irrigation tailwater recovery pits, diversions, grassed waterways, water and sediment control basins, dugouts for livestock water, pasture or range seedings, critical area plantings, windbreaks, planned grazing systems and windbreak renovations, irrigation water management, stream bank stabilization, and brush management.
Well Decommissioning - It is the responsibility of the participants to secure the services of a licensed well driller - The abandonment work, procedures, and documentation will be done in accordance with the Nebraska department of Heath regulation(title 178 chapter 12) - No work shall be done prior to approval of MNNRD funding and site approval - Above ground obstacles, pumps, and hung pipes will be removed at owner's expense. These expenses will not be eligible for cost share. - Participants will submit copies of itemized bills and a check for the balance (total cost minus cost share) - All work is subject to inspection while in progress or completed - Only wells on privately owned land are eligible - Cost share is set at 65% of materials and labor. There is a maximum limit of $300 for a well less than 12 inches diameter and $500 for a well larger than 12 inch diameter
MNNRD Water Quality - The MNNRD will cost share on surge valves, drop nozzles and sprinklers, in-line flow meters, and converting siphon tube to gated pipe - Cost share is set at 50%, $2000 maximum any one year per cooperator - Where appropriate, practices/equipment must meet NRCS technical specifications - Participant agrees to purchase and maintain equipment in proper working order for 10 years - Cost share sign up will be on a first come first serve basis - Sign up period is determined by the board, usually in the fall (Oct. thru Dec.) - All bills and participants contribution (actual cost - cost share) must be delivered to the MNNRD no later than June 1st. Upon receipt, the MNNRD will then pay the entire amount to the contractor or supplier - Installation labor costs for approved practices and equipment are eligible for cost share - All equipment is subject to inspection at any time - All cost share practices and equipment must be utilized primarily within the MNNRD on privately owned lands - The producer is responsible for arranging all services and equipment purchases - Participants are eligible for MNNRD WQ cost one time every three years |
