At the June 8, 2015 Middle Niobrara Natural Resources District Board of Director's Meeting, the Board approved a 6-month Temporary Stay on the addition of new groundwater irrigated acres, in compliance with Neb. Rev. Stat. 46-707(2).  The Board also requested that the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources implement a similar 6-month Stay on new surface water irrigated acres. These temporary Stays went into effect on June 29, 2015.  At the December 14, 2015 Board of Director's Meeting, it was determined the Stays should be continued until the completion of the Integrated Management Plan for the District.  If you have questions about the Stays please contact the MNNRD office at 402-376-3241.

Natural Resources Internship Available

We are looking for someone to intern in 2016, length of internship can be 6-12 months. Middle Niobrara Natural Resources District offers Scholarship

The Middle Niobrara Natural Resources District (MNNRD) is offering a $500 scholarship to an outstanding student in our district.  To apply for the scholarship, students must be a graduating high school senior, students currently attending college or vocational school or a non-traditional student pursuing additional education and be a resident in the MNNRD. Students applying for the scholarship must be pursuing a degree in wildlife biology, agronomy, range/livestock management or other natural resource related field. Scholarship applications will be ranked based on the student’s commitment to furthering education, academic achievement, leadership abilities, extra-curricular activities and community involvement.  The scholarship can only be awarded once per applicant.  Applications should be accompanied by a copy of the most recent transcript, a copy of ACT scores and a sealed letter of recommendation.  Applications can be downloaded from mnnrd.org under the 'forms' tab, or picked up at the MNNRD office.  Completed applications can be mailed to Middle Niobrara NRD, 526 E. 1st St., Valentine, NE 69201, faxed to 402-376-1040 or dropped off at the MNNRD office.  The deadline to apply is March 31st, 2016.
